If any of you have any comments/thoughts/ideas/suggestions about spn_sceneit - please feel free to leave them here =)

Thank you!

I don't know how well this would work or whether it's all ready been done either in spn or other fandoms but it's something I've been vaguely thinking about.

What about every couple of months or something you host an inspiration post where people can suggest songs they would like to see vidded or ideas for vids or something like that. I realise that most of the people here are probably vidders and would therefore probably want to vid any ideas they have but you never know. And also people could suggest songs for vid ideas that have all ready been suggested and stuff like that. But yeah, in basic terms, an inspiration post where everything is up for grabs.

So yeah, that was the idea I had and I figured this comm would probably be the best place for it. Otherwise this is a pretty cool comm and there's not anything I can think of to improve it :)

I think that's a great idea - I'll run it past the other mods and see what they think - and thank you =)
21st-Apr-2009 09:36 pm (UTC) - Is this the right place?
Hello there -- I put a call out on my LJ for vidders to pick from a list of songs that I liked to see if there were existing vids to them, or if anyone was up for making a vid and el1ie suggested your community.

Is the the place to go inside the community to post the songs I'm looking for vids of? If not, could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks so much!

In terms of making a suggestion for a vid to be made to one of those songs, then yes, the Inspiration Post is the right place =)

If you want to make a general query as to whether those songs have already been vidded to, maybe you could try posting and asking too over at supernaturalvid?

Can you search The Impala by song title? I remember with Kawoosh we could.

No, afraid not. It was something that was supposed to be added but I guess she never got round to it.

Hi - I know the dust has hardly settled yet, but about this Facebook cross posting of comments.

I'm fine with doing clips when asked on locked posts, never worries me at all, but with the comm growing and no way of knowing who has the Facebook cross posting thing enabled - is it ok for me to ask that any replies to me about clips I've done are not cross posted? I know I can't actually stop anyone doing it, but I still don't really want even my username included in any Facebook accounts IF I can help it and maybe a reminder to the requester on the actual post might be ok? Or is that me being rude and paranoid?

I don't honestly know what you're talking about, but I'll look it up on the weekend and see what the other mods have to say. Maybe it's something we can change in community settings??
I'll get back to you. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Are you okay to see if you can do it and if now, I'll do it?

I can't look it up right now (headache of doom), but I will look into it.

She's talking abou the new feature which is introduced here and here.

I think locked posts aren't automatically cross-posted, but people could choose to crosspost them, so in theory it could be an issue. I'm not sure it's something we have any control over though. Seems LJ is aware of the privacy issues. Hopefully they will choose to only crosspost a person's comments if they too have the feature switched on.

I don't think there's any way for us currently to override it. *hands* :(

I do know about the feature she's talking about, just don't know if there's a way to turn it off yet.

However - with how vocal people are being about it I'm fairly sure LJ will sort it out soon so we can x

One of my flisters posted a piece of code that's supposed to turn it off. I have no idea if it works. You wanna try? I'm not home right now and this laptop I'm using is barely working crap, so I'm kinda limited :(

I've put the code in. BUT it doesn't work if people are viewing your journal in their own style.

Also, if you haven't connected your LJ to your FB or twitter, the ticky boxes are unclickable

I hope so.

Hi hon,

Looks like so far there's no fix we can use. However according to the info on LJ, locked posts aren't automatically copied, so if you are concerned probably just saying so in your comment as you suggested might help for the moment.

It looks like LJ is getting a LOT of complaints, so hopefully they'll make it safer shortly. *fingers crossed* I hate cross-posting features, but they were at least previously limited to personal LJs. *grrrr*

In the meantime we'll keep our eyes peeled for any fixes for the community. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I kinda want to smack LJ programmers heads together right now. :(

Thanks so much for taking the time to try and address this problem that l/j has caused, I do appreciate everyone helping to try and keep our space safe.

Yep, on further reading it does seem that although someone can have their setting to cross post all comments by default, this doesn't apply to flocked material, where you have to use the ticky boxes to override.

Not sure if it's of any use to the comm as I'm not sure if you even have that option, but for any journal with the ability to set custom CSS there is a code you can add to the journal to prevent the tick boxes from appearing.

.b-repost-item {display:none}

Is what you need, put it in the CSS box on it's own if the box is empty or right at the end if you're using a code already, feel free to post that around to anyone who wants to change the settings on their own journal, it's not the solution we're all hoping for, but it helps.

And thanks again.

See my reply above =)

Hee - yes, I've seen it now, sorry, was reading from e-mail.

I'm sure with all the outcry there will be some changes made by l/j soon, we need the option to control our own journals and comms, so far there just isn't the option. Grrrr

Thanks for trying everything you can though.

I've made a general post about it tonight in the mod update. Hopefully that'll make people aware of our preferences at the very least. I wish there was more we can do, but we'll just have to wait for LJ to fix their less than great invention. *twiddles thumbs impatiently*
